Karen came to America with her two little brothers in 1883, but returned to Norway because she didn't like life in North America. We believe she lived with her father's brother, Knut, until she married Peder. Peder worked as a blacksmith in the village of Opphauge, near Brekstad. He was a widower when he married Karen.
