Mother: (unknown)
Dennis emigrated from the "Emerald Isle County of Faly" on or about 1840, and settled in Brooklyn, New York. We believe he was less than one year old. He was a private in the 119th New York Volunteers Infantry Brigade, which fought in the Civil War. This unit fought in the Battle of Gettysburg, the assault on Kennesaw Mountain, and the Battle of Peachtree Creek, among many others. The activities of this unit are recorded in On Campaign with the Army of the Potomac: The Civil War Journal of Theodore Ayrault Dodge, edited by Stephen W Sears, Cooper Square Press, New York, 2001
