Frances was known as Frankie by her friends and relatives. Frankie graduated as a nurse and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as a nursing sister in January, 1955. She was a returning officer for the province of Ontario, running elections in her riding from 1975 to 1999.

Married June 8, 1957, at Temiskaming, Quebec. Torb was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, August 7, 1931, the son of Norwegian immigrants. He became a pilot of an F-86 Sabre Jet, and later a police officer with the Toronto Police Department.Children:
