Mother: Isabel Lorna Hansford (1903-1995)

Born July 2, 1935, at Highland Park, Michigan.

Margaret moved with her family in 1945 from Detroit, Michigan, to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she attended Cheyenne Mountain Schools. After high school, she went to Colorado University in Boulder, where she met her husband.

Spouse: Lloyd Ray Bowyer

Married September 2, 1956, at Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado. The wedding was just before beginning their senior year of college.

Margie spent most of her adult life in a variety of community-action activities: Chi Omega sorority, American Association of University Women, Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader, library volunteer, etc. She served prominently on many boards: Randolph Township School Board, Morris Area Girl Scout Council Board of Directors, Girl Scouts of the USA national board of directors, and Morris County Child Placement Review Board, to name just a few. She also worked for several years as a volunteer administrator at the Morris County Voluntary Action Center and at several Morris County hospitals.

Ray and Margie raised three children to whom they gave birth, and a fourth (Timothy) who came to them as a foster child in 1976 and was adopted in 1978. All four graduated from Randolph High School, and all but Brian (who died at the age of 18) graduated from college.

Ray and Margie lived in Randolph, New Jersey, from 1966 to 1995, when they moved to Big Canoe, Georgia,They moved to Sandy Springs, Georgia, in 2017.

Margie has recently been on the board of directors of the World Foundation for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, the Child Placement Review Board of Pickens County, and the board of directors of Georgia Mountain Hospice. She is currently a member of the Olave Baden-Powell Society.

She was named Big Canoe Woman of the Year for 2002.
